No, if using the right oils, in the right way, plant oils should not cause breakouts.
Containing many naturally anti-microbial ingredients, our products are formulated with zero-to-low comedogenic oils to bring your skin back to equilibrium, balancing deficient or excessive oil production over time.
At first, however, while your skin is adjusting to our products, you may experience a few more blemishes than usual. This is completely normal as your skin is going through the natural "purging" process. During this process, your skin cells are becoming hydrated, plump and firm from all the nutrients they're absorbing from the oils. This leaves little room for anything foreign between skin cells, so these impurities are pushed out of the skin in the form of pimples and sometimes scabs.
This process should only last for about a month as that's the time it takes for your skin completely renews itself. If you are still experiencing breakouts after this time, please discontinue use and seek medical advice. -

A woman’s skin becomes extra-sensitive to many substances during pregnancy, particularly some essential oils. Though Oasis Black products should be safe for second and third trimester use, if you are pregnant, please consider using our Nude range of products (as they contain no essential oils and were designed with pregnant women in mind) and consult your medical practitioner first.

Nature is alive and seasonal, and therefore is constantly changing and fluctuating. Products made from natural ingredients are also subject to these natural variations.

You can take these variations as a positive sign that we are committed to delivering to you only the purest, best quality and freshest products made from all natural & organic ingredients. -

Skin chemistry varies from person to person, and people develop allergies to different substances throughout all stages of their lives. Hence, as with any cosmetic product, to ensure you’re not allergic to the ingredients in our products, please always conduct a patch test for at least 24 hours before use.
To perform a patch test, apply a small amount of the product to a small discreet patch of skin (for example inside your wrist or elbow), and wait 24 hours to see if any signs of irritation/redness develop. If you do develop any irritations, please discontinue use and seek medical advice.
Oasis Black cannot guarantee that customers will not experience skin reactions and cannot be held responsible should any occur. Please always try before you buy - we have sample sizes available for all our products. -
All our products are made by hand in small batches in our lab based in the Byron Bay Hinterland.

Despite the fact that Miron glass is a great material to store organic ingredients in, it unfortunately isn't generally curb-side recyclable. Meaning, that in most council areas, you can't throw Miron (or black) glass into your yellow recycling bin.
This is because the optical sorting technology used in most council recycling plants is based on the principle of light transparency and reflection. Currently, any non-transparent (black, dark or coated) pieces of glass are classified as non-glass particles by most sorting machines. These pieces are then not only rejected from the glass recycling loop, but some of the good transparent glass particles are rejected alongside them too.
In effect, by throwing Miron/black glass into your curb-side recycling bin, you're actually creating more waste than intended.
We don't want to see our customers un-intentionally increase the amount of waste they send to landfill. So until recycling sorting technologies improve, we've opted to use amber glass bottles instead - Plus, we like the fact that you can see how much product you've got left.
Ingredient FAQs

Carrier oils are oils derived from the fatty portion of a plant, usually from the seeds, kernels or the nuts. They are also often referred to as base oils.
The term carrier oil is derived from the purpose they provide whereby they "carry" essential oils to the skin, as the latter are much too potent to apply directly to the skin.
Each carrier oil has its own unique composition of fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fatty acids and other nutrients.
Oasis Black's products contain specifically selected carrier oils, each chosen for its unique ability to support, maintain or improve the look and feel of your skin.

Our bodies have spent millennia evolving to process naturally occurring foods and substances. Introducing un-natural chemicals and pesticides to the produce we consume, introduces elements that our bodies just aren't designed to deal with.
Our bodies know how to process naturally occurring substances, so why would we want to stress it out by introducing substances it's just not designed to deal with?
Oasis Black understands that because most of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream, what you put on your skin is just as important as what you eat.
Farming consumable produce without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals is the definition of Organic.
Not only is organic produce much better for you, and your skin, but it's also better for the environment. This is why we've chosen to source certified organic ingredients wherever possible for our products. -
100% of the carrier oils used in Oasis Black products are cold pressed.
This means that the oils are produced by simply pressing or squashing the parent seed, nut or grain at the lowest temperature possible... meaning cold pressed oils retain their natural chemical structure and nutrient value.
Conversely, large scale solvent extraction, heat extraction and refining operations use chemicals and heat to strip the oils from its parent plant before they're then deodorized and often bleached. These processes can be cost effective as they can result in a higher yield, but unfortunately they can also strip the natural antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and other nutrients from the oils too.
To deliver as much nutritional value as possible to your skin, we've deliberately chosen to use only cold pressed and virgin (wherever possible) carrier oils in our products.
-
For essential oils, steam distillation is the simplest, least chemical intensive extraction process.
Large scale solvent extraction and refining operations use chemicals to strip the oils from its parent plant before they're then deodorized and bleached. These processes can be cost effective as they result in a higher yield, but traces of the solvents are left in the oils and unfortunately they can also strip valuable nutrients from the oils too.
To deliver as much nutritional value as possible to your skin, whilst avoiding exposure to toxic solvents, we've deliberately chosen to use only steam distilled essential oils in our products.
-
Our ingredients are 100% natural and wherever possible Certified Organic (or wild harvested). However, as organic farming is completely reliant on the seasons and mother nature, sometimes crops can be wiped out due to natural disasters, making the organic versions of particular ingredients unavailable for a period of time.
All our organic ingredients are marked with an * in the product's ingredient list.

No, we do not use any Palm Oil, or any palm oil derived ingredient, in any of our products.

Whilst coconut oil is associated with some health benefits, it is unfortunately a known highly comedogenic oil, meaning it is known to clog pores which can lead to pimples, acne and other skin conditions.
Further, fractionated and other derivates of coconut oil offer very little nutritional value. This is because the complex chemical processes used to remove the undesirable elements from coconut oil, also destroy most of the valuable nutrients of the oil. Making the resulting "coconut oil" an un-natural, nutrient poor derivative that's, in our opinion, nothing more than a cheap filler ingredient.
For this reason, we've consciously chosen not to use coconut oil, or any of it's derivatives, in our Organic Face & Body Oils.
Further, we have made a conscious decision not to use Coconut oil in any of our Cleansers. Once saponified, Coconut oil becomes quite an aggressive cleanser that can strip the skin of moisture to leave it feeling dry and irritated. This aggressive cleaning power makes Coconut oil based soaps great for cleaning things like the dishes, but not great for skin.
Instead, our Cleansers are made using only the same high quality nut and seed oils found in our multi-purpose Organic Face & Body Oils.

No, absolutely not!
Mineral Oil is commonly used in skincare products because its super cheap, stable, and has a soothing effect on the skin. However, not only is it derived from petroleum (which offers no nutritional value for your skin), but the molecules are simply too big to be absorbed in to the skin. This means that the molecules tend to sit on the surface of the skin... leaving you feeling greasy, and contributing to clogged pores which can trigger breakouts, acne and other skin conditions.

Though citrus oils smell amazing and have many properties that can benefit the skin, unfortunately most are irritating to sensitive skin and are also photosensitive when exposed to UV light (meaning they'll cause you to burn when you're in the sun).
As our products are designed to be used by people with sensitive skin, throughout the day and night, we've deliberately chosen not to use citrus essential oils in our products.
