Ultra-violet light, oxygen and heat can decrease the effective life of many natural oils and speed up rancidity. To avoid deterioration and to prolong the effective life of our products, we designed our packaging to keep exposure to UV light, oxygen and heat at a minimum.

Some companies choose to house their oils in plastic containers. However, the strength of oils, mixed with UV light and heat can cause these plastic containers to break down and leach into their products over time. To avoid deterioration, leaching, and exposure to UV light we have chosen to use recyclable/reusable amber glass bottles.

Despite the fact that Miron glass is a great material to store organic ingredients in, it unfortunately isn't generally curb-side recyclable. Meaning, that in most council areas, you can't throw Miron (or black) glass into your yellow recycling bin.

This is because the optical sorting technology used in most council recycling plants is based on the principle of light transparency and reflection. Currently, any non-transparent (black, dark or coated) pieces of glass are classified as non-glass particles by most sorting machines. These pieces are then not only rejected from the glass recycling loop, but some of the good transparent glass particles are rejected alongside them too.

In effect, by throwing Miron/black glass into your curb-side recycling bin, you're actually creating more waste than intended.

We don't want to see our customers un-intentionally increase the amount of waste they send to landfill. So until recycling sorting technologies improve, we've opted to use amber glass bottles instead - Plus, we like the fact that you can see how much product you've got left.

As much as we love the idea of using eye droppers to apply our Elixirs, each time the container is opened you introduce a fresh supply of oxygen to the product. Oxygen speeds up oxidation and rancidity of natural oils.

To prevent this, and to deliver a consistent dose each time, we’ve chosen to fit our full size bottles with serum pump caps.

Coconut oil is highly comedogenic - meaning it has a high tendency to clog pores.

Coconut oil also has a tendency to sit on top of the skin and make you feel greasy, rather than be absorbed into it.

These two properties combined mean that if applied to the skin, Coconut oil can trap microorganisms (like bacteria) and debris underneath it which can lead to acne and other skin concerns.

For these reasons, we do not use Coconut oil in any of our formulations.

No! Containing only non comedogenic plant oils (ie no pore clogging oils like coconut, olive or mineral oils), many of which also possess naturally anti-microbial properties, our Elixirs are formulated with to bring your skin back to equilibrium, balancing deficient or excessive oil production over time.

If you haven't used an oil on your skin before, you may experience a few more blemishes than usual as you go through a purging process. During this process, your skin cells are becoming hydrated, plump and firm from all the nutrients they're absorbing from the oils. This leaves little room for anything foreign between skin cells, so these impurities are pushed out of the skin in the form of pimples. You can read more more about this process here.

This process should only last for about a month as that's the time it takes for your skin completely renews itself. If you are still experiencing breakouts after this time, please discontinue use and seek medical advice.
